Hey all,

I'm incredibly sorry that this project has gone down the tubes. What a year! I'm still working on getting print copies out to the contributors. Please know I have not forgotten about you!

I will be shutting this website down within the next few weeks as I revamp the project to something more modern and manageable in the current market. I'll post the link when everything is up and running.

First and foremost, the deadline for submissions for issue one has been extended to December 20th, 2010.

I look forward to seeing your work! I've seen some great submissions so far, and look forward to enjoying more. The snow is beginning to fall, signaling (for me at least): plenty of hot peppermint tea, long walks in the woods and down by the beach, knitting, reading, and especially writing! My Christmas list is almost finished, marking possibly the most productive gift making season of my life! Hope your holidays go as well as mine are shaping up to be!

The last of clinging autumn leaves!

Fall is ending, the dead leaves blowing away in the cold wind that brings winter and snow. Issue one is coming together nicely, and still needs some more pieces, so if you have some original poetry, or better- short stories, flash fiction, photos and art, and you'd like to become involved, send me an email.

Deadline for submissions is December 15th.

Some photos for your time, keep being creative!

Autumn is here and it is freezing! Time to knit some mitts and scarves. Shop up soon.

Hope the chill is stirring your creative juices. There's something about the crisp grey winter sky that fills my hands with words.

xo. Lindsay.

I dig a hole in the backyard.
Grass stains my hands
as I bury all my simple treasures;
words and ribbons and bones.

I pray that you won’t find them
as I wait for night to fall
so I can dig them out frantically,
lay them out one by one to admire with fervent joy.

I wait for you as the sun rises,
hiding my hands- mud covered,
sitting, fetching, adoring you
all for a simple pat on the head.

Loyal, they call me, devoted, they call me
but they don’t really know the truth:
The chain you’ve wrapped around my neck
and yank when I don’t follow command.

To play dead, if only for that luxury,
to bury myself within my treasures
the secrets I hold to keep me sane
and prevent my mouth from frothing white.

But to ignore your demands would only be futile,
to bite or growl or bare my teeth
would bring me to the sterile cold metal table
where a single needle would do the job.

I grow tired and wearisome,
old and haggard from sitting pretty for treats.
you replace me before I’m even gone,
a pretty new pup with a silken bow.

Your eyes light up when she is near
and I am just the background, the comfort, the usual.
I’m the hair on the couch and the piss on the floor,
though I still try to please, I’m long forgotten. Already dead.

You’ll bury me in a cardboard box
with a nearby stick to mark my place.
I will fade away with the autumn wind,
only to be remembered by the stains on the carpet.
